Roam with US Service Provider
Several major wireless carriers
offer calling plans and phones that provide service
both in the US and while traveling abroad. Normally,
you purchase a calling plan for service while you
are in the US and then you have to pay roaming charges
when you use your phone outside of your US calling
area. Note that roaming can be very expensive, ranging
from $0.99 per minute to more than $4.00 per minute.
You can receive your incoming calls to your US-based
phone while you are abroad, but you will be charged
for incoming calls at the roaming rate. If convenience
is more important to you than savings, this is an
option for you to consider.
